The filter is an essential piece of equipment to keep healthy koi and Gold fish. Mechanical filtration separates out the solid wastes, and biological pond filtration uses natural bacteria to break down the ammonia and other dissolved waste products produced by the fish. Many filters also come with a built in Ultra violet light to kill green algae. For filters that do not have a built in UV we recommend fitting an Ultra Violet in to the pipe work to ensure crystal clear water. We offer a wide range of mechanical and biological pond filters, including: Hozelock Bioforce and filters, and Oase Filtoclear filters. These filters are ideal for keeping clear water in Gold fish ponds and maintaining healthy water conditions. For larger Koi ponds we carry the KF range of pond filters from Kockney Koi and the Nexus filters and Answer filters from the Evolution Aqua.Pond filters are equally useful on small Goldfish ponds to the largest Koi ponds. Please read the individual instructions to select the correct size filter for your pond. When choosing a pond filter please take account of the fact that manufacturers rate their units with the maximum size pond they will clear in perfect conditions. In most situations to get a realistic figure for the volume that will be effectively treated it is best to subtract around 20% from the maximum quoted pond size. For example a filter that is recommended for up to a thousand gallons will probably only be suitable for an eight hundred gallon garden pond in most real world situations.
